SILK VS SATIN

SILK VS SATIN

Although silk and satin have both similarities at first sight, there are significant differences between them. Silk versus satin:

Material:

  • Silk is a natural fabric known for its smooth, soft, and lustrous texture. It is highly esteemed for its natural properties and various benefits it offers to skin and hair.
  • Satin on the other hand, is made on a weaving structure and techniques reference to polyester, plastic, rayon, or blends. It has a glossy high sheen in the front surface, and a dull finish in the back surface.

Properties and Benefits:

  • Silk has several unique properties that make it highly sought after. (See Silk Benefits).
  • Satin may have smooth and silky feel, but it does not offer the benefits that Silk does.

Ultimately, we aim for the best!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

Silk is a beautiful, delicate fabric derived from nature. We take pride in our organically dyed silk.

Be good to your silk as it is good to you!

Due to silk's delicate nature, we advise to do the necessary followings to increase the longevity of your silk.

  • Detergents with bleach, alcohol, protease, enzymes, or any alkaline should be avoided. These will dissolve the silk protein based natural fabric.
  • When washing the silk, cold water is a way to go.
  • Silk fabric should not be over washed or soaked.
  • Excessive washing may result in discoloration.
  • Avoid exposing or using iron at high temperature for it may stain or burn the fabric.
  • Air dry but not on direct sunlight

Machine cold washing on delicate cycle is fine, but hand washing in cold water may give best results.

We recommend using a steam iron at a low temperature setting.
